Heavenly Green Roofs from Liquid Plastics
Liquid Plastics, pioneer of cold applied roofing systems, has supplied an Extensive Green Roof System to the Church of St. Anne in the Diocese of Brentwood.
The church had recently benefited from a new extension to the rear of the existing building, and an aesthetically pleasing green roof system was required to complete the project. The green roof was to be applied to a new build timber deck, and would also include roof lights and insulation.
“The completed green roof system offers an aesthetically pleasing finish that can also help to insulate the roof,” comments Phil Richardson, Liquid Plastics’ Marketing Director, “And because the system was installed by Millane Contract Services, who are one of our Quality Assured Contractors, a Single Point Guarantee was issued covering both labour and the Decothane membrane.”
Liquid Plastics’ green roof system is completely cold applied; therefore there is no requirement for any heat or naked flame on the roof. The Decothane waterproof membrane is proven to resist penetration by even the most aggressive roots, cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection, and is certified by the BBA to last at least 25 years.
Hibbs and Walsh Architects specified Liquid Plastics’ Extensive Green Roof System because the practice had previous experience of Liquid Plastics’ products and was confident that the system would meet their criteria. The full system includes Decotherm Insulation, a Decothane Root Resistant waterproof membrane, Biodrain, Filter Fleece, Sedum Substrate, and a pre-grown Sedum Blanket. Liquid Plastics’ Decolight roof lights and roof edge trims were also installed.
