" We are continually developing new and existing products to make sure we maintain our position as a market leader. "
Mike Byrne - Technical DirectorAfter graduating with a degree in Applied Chemistry, I started my career working for Lanstar - a chemical recycling company.
In 1989 I joined Liquid Plastics as a Research and Development Chemist working in the laboratory developing new products. A number of years later I became R&D Manager working closely with the chemists on product development, both for the UK and our overseas businesses in the US and Belgium.
I became Technical Director in 2008. My primary responsibilities are for R&D and Quality Control. This involves the continuous development of existing products as well as the introduction of new systems and involves close liaison with a number of other departments. Throughout the product development process it is also important that our work, and ultimately the products, comply with all relevant legislation. We also aim to create products that are market leaders and will easily achieve all construction related certification – such as European Technical Approvals (ETAs).
During my career at Liquid Plastics I have held a number of positions with relevant industry associations including Director of Polyurea Development Association, and Vice-Chairman of the Technical Committee for the European Liquid Waterproofing Association.
