Challenge -

Wolverhampton University had constructed a new build plant room that was built into the side of a slope. The roof of the building is positioned at the top of the slope, and in order to make it blend into its surrounding a green roof system was required.

The solution -

An Extensive Green Roof System from Liquid Plastics was specified for the project. This is a cold, liquid applied system that includes a completely seamless, root resistant waterproof membrane. The full system also includes a Vapour Control Layer, Decotherm Insulation, a Carrier Membrane, Biodrain, Filter Fleece, Sedum Substrate, and finally a pre-grown Sedum Blanket.

The benefits -

Liquid Plastics’ green roof system is completely cold applied, therefore there is no requirement for any heat or naked flame on the roof. The Decothane waterproof membrane is proven to resist penetration by even the most aggressive roots, cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection, and is certified by the BBA to last 25 years. The completed green roof system offers an aesthetically pleasing finish that is also kind to the environment, and can further help to insulate the roof. Furthermore, because the system was installed by one of Liquid Plastics’ Quality Assured Contractors, a Single Point Guarantee could be issued covering both materials and labour.
