Providing a Roof for Those in Need
16th February 2010 – Liquid Plastics, pioneer of liquid roofing technology, has helped to provide shelter and support for the victims of the Sumatra Earthquake disaster. Working with Clarke Roofing Contractors, one of Liquid Plastics’ Quality Assured Contractors, the companies supplied funding for a Shelterbox, which will provide much needed relief for a family in the area.
“As a roofing contractor we know only too well the importance of providing waterproof shelter,” comments Frank Clarke of Clarke Roofing Contractors, “which is why we are proud to be able to support this worthy cause.”
Matt Roberts of Clarke Roofing Contractors is a volunteer for Shelterbox and has travelled to several disaster areas around the world as part of a Shelterbox Response Team. Matt reports; “After a few days of distributing tents in Sumatra we were struck by the level of devastation. It was a very humbling experience to be able to give families who had lost everything a home and the rest of the fantastic equipment that the Shelterbox contains. Over the two weeks I spent there I was struck by the generosity of the people, always quick to offer us water or some local food; and their determination to re-build their lives to get back some resemblance of normality. By giving a family a Shelterbox I believe we give them not just the essential shelter and tools for survival, but also their dignity and the opportunity to begin the re-build process in a much better environment.”
Liquid Plastics is dedicated to supporting charitable causes and by working with Clarke Roofing Contractors the company has been able to provide essential support for victims of the earthquake. And with the recent earthquake in Haiti both companies hope to highlight the difference that can be made by supporting charities such as Shelterbox.
